Top Ten Growth Companies

Custom Processing Services Inc.

At Custom Processing Services Inc., Exeter Township, big things are happening at a company that specializes in turning raw materials into tiny particles.

The company recently signed a letter of intent to acquire the assests of another firm, according to Jeffrey A. Klinger, vice president and equal partner with Gregory J. Shemanski, president.

An announcement with further details will be made at a later date, but Klinger said it is likely more employees will be added in the near future. The firm, founded in 2000, employs 42.

Shemanski said there are two reasons for the firm's success.

"We're broad-based in our markets and a lot of our customers sell worldwide," he said.

As for materials that are most in demand for processing, Shemanski said, minerals is a big one.

In technical terms, the company does not produce raw materials but is a processor specializing in the micronizing of ultr-fine particle-sized materials form other sources. The materials are used in a variety of products, including chemical powders, waxes, polymers, metals, fillers, and pigments.

The firm uses nanotechnology in media milling and can produce particles in the sub-micron range.

Klinger said the firm has many overseas customers but none in Berks County. The closest area customer is in Chester County.
