Coarse Grinding
Custom Processing Services provides a range of coarse sizing services which can produce material in 24-inch to .0017-inch particle sizes. Methods used to achieve these results include
impact crushing, grinding, and pulverizing.
Two flash dryers and a new in-line rotary dryer enable CPS to dry materials from over 50% to less than .5% moisture.
Products can also be screened from 4 to 40 mesh and repackaged for shipping to customers or end-users.
Custom Processing's blending services can combine from 2 to many parts. The large blender can accommodate up to 10-ton batches and the small blender is ideal for R&D quantities.
The coarse grinding facility can receive rail-side bulk shipments and can also offer bulk material handling and warehousing in both indoor and outdoor areas.
Custom Processing Services provides the quality-assured, customized solutions and processes that get customer products to market quickly, efficiently, and economically.
Ultra-fine Grinding
CPS offers micronizing of ultra-fine particle-sized materials for use in a wide range of products, including chemical powders, waxes,
polymers, flame retardants, minerals, metals, fillers, pigments, and pharmaceutical excipients. Air-jet milling utilizing innovative technology in a variety of configurations allows
CPS to customize its processes for each client and product.
Custom Processing Services is FDA registered and offers food-grade 21 CFR 110 processing ; is cGMP
(current Good Manufacturing Practices)
compliant; has an established HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) system; and is committed to the requirements of the ISO9001:2000 quality system.
Blending and surface treating enable CPS to produce "designer particles" which meet customers' exacting specifications.
Through wet milling, or media milling, CPS utilizes principles of nanotechnology and can produce particles in the
sub-micron range. High- dispersions and are also available.
Custom packaging, arranged to meet individual client and product requirements, make the processed materials ready for shipment anywhere in the world.
Numerous processing stations allow CPS to perform work from bench scale or research and development quantities to truckload campaigns and high-volume dedicated production runs.
Through Custom Processing Services' strategic alliance with world-renown mill manufacturer NETZSCH, the production process for each client is optimized and in-house equipment needs can be satisfied as well.
Transportation and Logistics
The logistics of moving materials from their source to their end-user can be puzzling at times. Custom Processing Services has the pieces in place to help customers with raw material procurement,
transportation, warehousing, inventory management and shipping.
CPS can import minerals via the Port of Baltimore and transport them to its East Greenville location by rail car loads to its private rail siding. Bulk material handling systems take the product into the plant for
coarse processing. Afterwards, it is packaged in Super sacks or drums and shipped via the affiliated trucking firm, Birchmont Transport, to the Reading facilities for ultra-fine grinding. After further
processing and packaging, the material can be moved to
Birchmont Distribution's Bellevue Warehouse for storage and shipment at a later date, either by Birchmont Transport or a common carrier. Custom Processing Services also handles out-bound container shipments for international destinations.
