Reading firm installs new equipment:
Largest air mill for toll processing worldwide

Custom Processing Services, Inc., has commissioned a new NETZSCH- CONDUX® Fluidized Bed Jet Mill CGS 100 mill in its Reading, PA facility.

The addition of this milling system, the most technologically advanced in the world, enables CPS to produce ultra-fine micronized powders for various industries, from waxes and polymers to minerals and food-grade components.

Gregory J. Shemanski, President, and Jeffrey A. Klinger, Vice President of Operations, designed this integrated system, drawing upon their many years of experience in the particle size reduction industry. They are confident the benefits of this large capital expenditure will enable them to continue meeting customer needs in a timely and cost-effective manner.

The CGS mill, from NETZSCH-CONDUX®, is the largest air mill employed in a toll processing facility worldwide. This makes the system particularly well suited to handle high-volume production campaigns and offer economy of scale to their clients.

The milling system is installed in a brand-new workstation. Electronic process controls, driven by the latest technologies in PLC engineering, enable the operators to reproduce running conditions exactly in order to manufacture both large and small lots to rigid specifications.

Advanced dust collection systems keep the work environment safe and clean.

Automated bagging equipment helps speed the product for customers' tight delivery schedules with quick turn-around times. A plethora of packaging options are available, from valve bags, sewn bags, drums, drums with liners, and pails, to Gaylord boxes and super sacks.

Customized shipping to worldwide destinations is also offered by Custom Processing Services, with access to ports in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Baltimore.

Another benefit offered by Custom Processing Services is the ability to grind materials to the nanometer range, by utilizing a wet media milling system. Potential applications for these super small particles include many personal care products and pharmaceutical components.

The consumer advantages of using a toll processor such as CPS are many. Clients can avoid the expense and difficulty of installing costly process equipment in their own plants by using Custom Processing Services' facility. Even more importantly, they can tap into the wealth of knowledge and experience possessed by Mr. Shemanski and Mr. Klinger to expedite the micronizing process from the testing phase through the full-scale production campaign.

Should the customer at any time need to install his own processing equipment, the strategic alliance formed between equipment manufacturer NETZSCH and CPS will assist in the selection of the proper machinery and settings and insure a smooth transition.
