CPS achieves ISO 9001:2000 Registration
The management system of Custom Processing Services, Inc. has been registered to ISO 9001:2000 by Quality Management Institute. QMI Registration recognizes effective management systems that have met the requirements of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO.)
Custom Processing Services’ registration date is February 4, 2004 and is effective for three years. It applies to the company’s manufacturing facility, located at 2 Birchmont Drive, Reading, Pennsylvania.
The scope of their business is Chemical Manufacturing. Custom Processing Services is a toll processor who specializes in micronizing of ultra-fine particle-sized materials for use in a wide range of products, including chemical powders, waxes, polymers, flame retardants, minerals, metals, fillers and pigments. CPS is FDA registered and offers food-grade 21 CFR 110 processing. Blending, coating and compounding to customer specifications, plus custom packaging, allow CPS to ship products anywhere in the world. Custom Processing Services utilizes nanotechnology in media milling and can produce particles in the sub-micron range. CPS performs work from bench scale to truckload campaigns. Through Custom Processing Services’ strategic alliance with mill manufacturer NETZSCH, the production process for each client is optimized and equipment needs are satisfied as well.
ISO is responsible for the development and publication of the ISO 9000 series, but verifying conformance with the standards is not part of its work. ISO 9000 assessment and registration is carried out independently by registration bodies under their responsibility. Quality Management Institute has audited and registered Custom Processing Services’ management system to ISO 9001: 2000.
Benefits of ISO Registration *
The widespread adoption of International Standards means that suppliers can base the development of their products and services on specifications that have wide acceptance in their sectors. This, in turn, means that businesses, such as Custom Processing Services, who are using International Standards, are increasingly free to compete on many more markets around the world. Conformity of products and services to International Standards provides assurance to consumers about their quality, safety and reliability.
What makes ISO 9000 so special
The ISO 9000 series is among ISO's most widely known and successful standards ever. ISO 9000 has become an international reference for quality requirements in business to business dealings. The vast majority of ISO standards are highly specific to a particular product, material, or process. However, the standards that have earned the ISO 9000 series a worldwide reputation are known as "generic management system standards". "Generic" means that the same standards can be applied to any organization, large or small, whatever its product - including whether its "product" is actually a service - in any sector of activity, and whether it is a business enterprise, a public administration, or a government department. "Management system" refers to what the organization does to manage its processes, or activities.
ISO 9000 is concerned with "quality management". This means what the organization does to enhance customer satisfaction by meeting customer and applicable regulatory requirements and continually to improve its performance in this regard.

Batch Processing Available from Custom Processing
NETZSCH Incorporated formed a strategic alliance with a local processing company, Custom Processing Services, Inc. (CPS). CPS is located just 25 miles northwest of NETZSCH's Exton facility. Custom Processing's 36,000 square foot plant houses a complete range of grinding equipment used for batch processing customer materials.
In alliance with CPS, NETZSCH Incorporated is now able to complete large-scale tests at this plant. CPS currently utilizes NETZSCH Fluidized Bed Jet Mills CGS 71 and 100 and Universal Mill CUM 300 for dry grinding, and a Zeta System LMZ 10 for wet grinding.
"This alliance is a win-win situation for NETZSCH and CPS. Before our Technical Center was built and the partnership with CPS established, NETZSCH had to send all potential customers to our headquarters in Germany for testing. Now, we can conduct a full range of dry grinding trials right here in Chester County and Berks County, PA, " Steve Miranda, Manager, Dry Grinding, remarked.
The people of Custom Processing Services have decades of experience in toll grinding a wide variety of products, from specialty chemical additives and food grade materials to toners and minerals, and have capacity to handle truckload campaigns as well as dedicated production units.
For more information about conducting your next large batch trial with NETZSCH and CPS, contact Gregg Shemanski.
